The Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry is a non profit 501c(3) operating to provide emergency food and non-perishable essential household items to needy persons and families in the greater Calais area, Washington County, Maine.

ICEFP, Mission

The Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry (ICEFP) operates many programs within the Washington County community. The pantry keeps fairly modest hours, but is now open three days a week for short windows- due to the fact that it is now serving a wider area of population than ever before. The closure of several smaller food pantries in neighboring towns has led to a surge in demand for aid at this location in Calais.

Step of Faith Ministry, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, evangelical Christian organization that provides spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Our desire is to help meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine; With the purpose of sharing God's love through His son JESUS CHRIST.

Step of Faith, Mission

Step of Faith Ministry has many programs and missions at work both domestically and abroad. Founder Bob Hager was a New Jersey resident and local businessman. Beginning in 1989 he took a variety of short term missions trips to Haiti, amazed by the need of the Haitian populace, Step of Faith Ministry (SOFM) was born. The ministry now supports one full-time missionary, Pam Hess of New Jersey, who took on her current role in 2010. Through the efforts of Pam Hess, the founders of the ministry, and many other supporters, vital relief has been brought to local areas of New Jersey as well as several cities in Haiti including Ouanaminthe, Lac’ajue, and Port-au-Prince.

Our Mother’s House-a program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc.

To provide single mothers and their pre-school children a safe and secure environment in which to achieve increased self-sufficiency through education, vocational training, and personal growth.

Our Mother’s House, Mission

Our Mother’s House provides shelter and guidance for single mothers and their children who, without this program, would be homeless. Residents have their own apartments, volunteers assist with childcare in Head Start, located on site and dedicated to the families, while mothers are in school or working. Mothers work toward self-sufficiency while they are at Our Mother’s House. All are required to attend life skills classes, including, but not limited to parenting, self-esteem, nutrition, and budgeting. Mothers additionally agree to abide by house rules and regulations, to attend house meetings, and to accept communal responsibilities of everyday living.
